Youth Team’s Confident Win
Lokomotiv defeated Ural 4:1 in the Youth Championship game.
The match between Lokomotiv and Ural juniors was the last fixture before winter break. However, it would have been too early for footballers to entertain any thoughts of holiday, and they proved it many times on the pitch, charging forward from early minutes.
The game start indeed looked quite briskly – Lokomotiv enjoying territorial dominance. By the 20th minute, the scorline could have been 3:0 for the hosts, but Ural goalkeeper Shubin saved his side each time. Nevertheless, the result would not stand at 0:0 for long. In the middle of first half, Smirnov scored an opener.
During the second half, Ural tried to come from behind but failed to get into the Railwaymen’s final third. Loko, in their turn, quickly doubled the lead. After a little “free-for-all” in the Bumblebees’ box when it seemed the entire team rushed in there to put every man behind the ball - Anisimov slotted it past Shubin.
Lokomotiv did not hold up play and within ten minutes drove it home twice more. One goal came off Galanin’s shot from the corner of the danger zone, as he sprinted clear of his markers. Four minutes on, Ivan assisted Galadzhan with an incisive pass into the six-yard box, and the latter did not miss.
Late in the game, the away side managed to get a consolation goal on a counter attack.
Loko youngsters bag a comfortable victory and walk off for mid-season break on the back of 30 points.
