Juniors Take First Win
Lokomotiv youth team got the better of Krylia Sovetov during Gameweek 4 of the Russian Football Championship.
With three Gameweeks of the Youth League’s new season behind, Lokomotiv and Krylia Sovetov were sitting tied for the 15th place of the tournament table. Naturally, the current champions were less than happy with the situation. According to Ansar Ayupov, coaches had had extensive conversations with the lads after their defeat in Grozny. Minutes into the encounter with Krylia, it was clear the team have learned a lesson from their mistakes.
Lokomotiv gained territorial dominance and advanced towards the goal. Midway through the first half, Lysov managed to craft two chances within the space of one minute. Both times he drew saves from Shilnikov. However, the latter could not deny yet another attempt which came from Rybchinsky.
Right after the break, Kulikov created a stunner. Daniil pounced on the deflection following a corner kick and volleyed it into the top corner. That goal turned out to be the winner. Late into the game, Krylia stepped up their efforts – even although they had Kiselev sent off – and did pull one back through Nabatov. But Lokomotiv just could not afford to let the victory slip again.
