Galadzhan Scores Match-Winning Hat-Trick against CSKA
Lokomotiv junior squad defeated CSKA and won the top match of Gameweek 24 of the Russian Youth League.
CSKA entered Gameweek 24 ranking first, four points clear of the runners-up Lokomotiv. Both teams were in good form. The Railroaders were on four matches’ winning run. The Army Men’s unbeaten streak stretched to ten Gameweeks.
The opening half was totally dominated by Lokomotiv. Had the Red-Greens finished roughly 50 % of chances they spurned, the team could have shipped in five or six goals against CSKA before halftime. But accuracy eluded the hosts: Galadzhan and Galanin wasted one-on-ones, Lysov had a close range shot – and fired straight into the gloves. Eventually quantity translated into quality: as time ebbed away, Galadzhan bagged a brace with one and a half minute between the goals.
After the restart, Artyom’s attacking verve did not dwindle either. On 54 minutes he received a through ball from Nikitin on the flank, and scored a hat-trick getting 16th goal to his name this season. For a while, it looked as if the Army Men had wilted. As the match wore on, however, CSKA picked themselves up, netted twice, and staged a real onslaught in the game’s dying minutes – even goalkeeper Pomazun came forward to join the fray. Lokomotiv withstood the charge.
The Railwaymen win their fifth successive encounter and cut the gap on the leader to one point.
