Igor Cherevchenko: ‘The goal for the season is to qualify for a European competition’
Lokomotiv manager Igor Cherevchenko has briefed the journalists who came to ask him questions.
- What are the team’s goals for the first training camp?
- The internationals will arrive on June 26. We will have to level their form. I keep in touch with all of them, they have the individual workouts that they do.
- What are the goals for the new season?
- As usual - to qualify for a European competition.
- Pavlyuchenko has left the team - is it a loss?
- Yes, but we have other strikers as well. We have a team. I wouldn’t make it a tragedy when one player leaves. Pavlyuchenko was good at the end of the season but it’s football. Somebody comes, somebody leaves.
- There were rumors that Niasse can leave for Galatasaray. Are you counting on him?
- I have talked to Niasse. We are counting on him but no coach can guarantee a player that he will be a 100% starter.
- What positions would you like to strengthen?
- Midfield.
- Are you thinking of attracting the supporters to the stands?
- Of course, I want to see more fans. If they want to meet me and talk, I am ready.
