Draw against teammates
Prior to the game, the coaches tossed the shortlist of their starting elevens, the fact that hampered good understanding between the players in the very beginning. Every team preferred to mend it on their half of the pitch prior to raiding the rival’s lines. Anyway Loko’s first attack happened by the 6th minute when Grigoriev played one-two with Caicedo and was ready to strike when a defender cleared the ball.
Felipe became Loko’s main striker in the first half. He managed to make some impressive shots and earn several dangerous free kicks. Alas, they wouldn’t turn into goals. As far as the set-play attack is concerned, the Railwaymen had four attacking players up front. Grigoriev, Chochiev, Maicon and Caicedo had been constantly changing positions keeping Loko-2 players strained.
Zakuskin and Eschenko made some spectacular long shots in the first half, and later Grigoriev had a fat chance. He picked up the ball in the centre, carried it along the sideline to the corner of the box and shot in the near corner but the ball went straight into the crossing and bumped back into the pitch.
The second half was played by completely different squads: 8 of Loko’s 11 players were substituted. Lokomotiv possessed the ball on their half but couldn’t create a single opportunity on the other side, whichwas literally crowded by Lokomotiv-2. When Dmitry Sychev pierced the opponent’s lines and was going to shoot from a good position he got surrounded by four players.
In the end of the game Lokomotiv earned several corners, and made two of them really dangerous. First, Obinna crossed to the box and Sychev lacked just a bit to head it home, and second, Loskov crossed to Da Costa who headed on to the far post but Obinna didn’t manage to net.
During the last ten minutes Lokomotiv tried to use flank players more actively but Andrey Ivanov and Renat Yanbaev on the right and left sides respectively remained fruitless. Chochiev, who returned to the pitch again, made the game’s last attempt but still failed to score. 0-0 draw in Loko’s first test game in the off-season.
