Even Vagabov Didn't Help

Islam Vagabov's sixth goal in six appearances didn't save Lokomotiv from losing to Rubin in Gameweek 26 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Youth Championship.

A rainfall has become a fixture at Lokomotiv youth team's games. It makes bad conditions not only for the spectators but also for the players who have to get used to the peculiarities of playing in wet weather.

After a failed game against CSKA the Railwaymen's head coach Denis Klyuev decided to hand his best bower Islam Vagabov a starting position, while Maksim Bogatyryov went to safeguard the goal.

Bad weather that has been there for several days already stopped both teams from demonstrating quality football early in the game. However, the visitors were more active in the first minutes. Lokomotiv managed to create their first chance only on 21 minutes when Islam Vagabov passed to Nikita Dorofeyev who failed to beat the opposition's keeper Akmurzin. Three minutes later the Kazanites managed to open the score through Kamenshchikov who headed the ball home.

Vagabov's starting position proved effective in the 33rd minute when Rakhmonov broke down the wing and crossed to the forward who headed in a leveler, his sixth goal in six appearances. It's interesting to note this is Islam's first starting position at the team and it immediately bore fruit.

However, Lokomotiv's fans didn't have much time to rejoice as the visitors took the lead again following the efforts by Makeyev. Two minutes later Lokomotiv's Daniil Kulikov got nervous and was sent off with a red card leaving the team one man down. Rubin managed to capitalize on the advantage late into the first half through Kamenshchinkov who netted a brace.

The second half was pretty poor in action. Lokomotiv had the initiative trying to get back into the game. On 51 minutes Akmurzin demonstrated great goalkeeping skills after Roman Tugarev's amazing free kick. The Railroaders kept attacking but lacked proper finishing. Lokomotiv lost in s secod game in a row but are still in the race for the medals.
