Rubin - Lokomotiv - 0:2
Lokomotiv played against Rubin without Rifat Zhemaletdinov, who got a red card against Orenburg. He was replaced by Dmitri Rybchinskiy. It was the first game in the Russian Premier League that Dima started from the first minutes. There were no other changes in the team after Orenburg.
Dima played well in a friendly game against Tambov, where he scored a goal. Today, he could not afford not to use his chance. Rybchinskiy was a threat, often used his dribbling skills and in situations where he lost the ball he immediately tried to recover it.
In the first ten minutes, Rubin was more dominant and even could have scored - Pablo Santos had a good chance after a corner and then Bakaev had a shot from a close range. However, as the time passed, Rubin dominance faded away and Lokomotiv pushed the game away from its goal.
The railmen opened the score on the 24th minute. Eder won an aerial duel, Rybchinskiy picked up the ball and passed it to Miranchuk, who used his technical ability and fired a powerful low shot that went in at the near post.
After a short period of time , Rybchinskiy took part in the second goal as well. The ball has hit Starfelt’s hand after Dima’s shot and referee has awarded the penalty. Miranchuk fired a powerful shot that went in just under the crossbar.
Two minutes before the half time, Lokomotiv could have scored the third goal. Aleksey Miranchuk made a through ball to Joao Mario, who fired a shot into far corner and hit the post.
Lokomotiv had another great opportunity at the beginning of the second half. Rybchinskiy passed the ball to Joao into the penalty area, the Portuguese rolled the ball to Miranchuk around eleven meter mark, but Aleksey’s strike was wide off the mark.
After that, Rubin took over the initiative, by having three good goal scoring opportunities in four minutes. At first, Ignatjev could not convert the cross from Kvaratskhelia at the far post, then Guilherme made a save after a powerful shot from Samoshnikov, and lastly Starfelt header went wide after the corner.
On the 65th minute Rubin missed another chance. Makarov fired a shot from a close range into the near corner, but Guilherme made another great save, which helped him achieve his 100th clean sheet in the Russian Premier League.
After that the game was pretty much quiet. Lokomotiv tried to slow down the game, while Rubin only had one good goal scoring opportunity from the corner, which ended with hitting a crossbar. Lokomotiv played it safe for the rest of the game and earned a convincing 2:0 win. It’s their fourth consecutive win that helped retain the second place in the league. On Tuesday Lokomotiv already has another game, this time they face Krylia Sovetov.
