Lokomotiv was to take on Jeonbuk in the camp’s last game. Several days-off and sunny weather in Marbella that preceded the match should have given the guys some extra positive emotions.
Jeonbuk was our first opponent of approximately the same condition. They too came to Spain in mid-January and had had two friendlies. Unlike Steaua and Osijek that concluded the entire preparation cycle with this camp.
The first half was dynamic. Both teams took control of the ball one after the other and pushed the opponent to their third but both lacked the ultimate pass. In the end, Krychowiak created an opportunity for himself. Grzegorz took a long-range shot that sailed
off the post. Soon Hoewedes had a chance to score off a corner but his header went wide.
The Koreans responded with a sudden strike from the corner of the penalty area. Yong Lee had a go right under the crossbar but Guilherme saved. Soon Seung-Gi Lee found himself unchecked at the edge of the goal area but his attempt went wide.
Not long before the whistle Zhemaletdinov had a chance to open the score. Rinat passed an opponent before the area, moved right and took a shot at the near corner but the keeper managed to stretch and clear.
In half-time the coaches substituted just one player, allowing Kochenkov to tend the goal instead of Guilherme. Jeonbuk were more active early in the second half. The Korean side pressed the Railroaders against the goal and opened the score on 56 minutes after Seung-Gi Lee played one-two with a partner and sent the ball into the back of the net.
Lokomotiv responded in ten minutes. The Miranchuks set up for Barinov about ten metres off the goal, Dima’s blast shook the post but the Koreans failed to clear giving the chance to Eder - the Portuguese used it.
After this Lokomotiv increased its activity and gave Jeonbuk almost no chance to approach its goal. However, this did not automatically mean that the Railroaders managed to create many chances up front. Zhemaletdinov again had the most realistic chance to score when he rounded the keeper in the area but decided to have a go from an acute angle instead of passing to Miranchuk who was alone at the penalty spot.
Lokomotiv’s first training camp is thus finished. The team will have a few days off and will leave for Qatar on January 31st to take part in the Match Premier Cup.
