Eder’s Goal, Nine Bookings, And a Penalty. Loko Draw Tie With Ufa

Neftyanik Stadium has become a very unwelcoming place for visitors this season. Ufa had secured four victories in 14 gameweeks, all of them at home, and all of them against the leaders of the table.

Rostov, Zenit, Spartak and CSKA all left the arena without a point, while Krasnodar secured a victory in the last minutes thanks to an own goal. Lokomotiv’s record against Ufa says it clear – these are the games where one mistake makes a difference, and one goal names the winner. The last seven games ended either in 1:0, or a goalless draw.

Lokomotiv was better in the opening minutes. Our team offered good pace, however, the hosts were the ones who created the first chance. Thill directed the ball at the far corner after a cross from the right but missed just a whisker.

Both teams had opportunities to open the score in the middle of the first half but wasted five chances in ten minutes. Guilherme saved after a long-range attempt by Thill, then Barinov had Guilherme’s back denying Thill a one-on-one.

Lokomotiv responded with mid-range shots by Barinov and Krychowiak who made Belenov tip the ball away from under the crossbar and a lower corner.

The Railroaders had a fat chance early in the second half when Ignatyev and Miranchuk played a one-two in the corner of the penalty area with the latter having a go at the top ninety but the ball shook the woodwork.

In the 60th minute Lokomotiv made it. Miranchuk crossed from a corner flag, Eder shook off the defenders in the centre of the box and sent the ball past Belenov straight into the net.

After the goal Ufa rushed forward searching for an equalizer. Our players found themselves locked in their box and soon gave in to the pressure. Krychowiak knocked down Golubev, the referee pointed at the spot, Bizyak converted.

Soon the play became really hot, and the referee started booking players in an attempt to cool it down – in just 20 minutes five of Lokomotiv’s players were shown yellow cards, which meant only Guilherme, Barinov and Murilo were clear by the final whistle.

Lokomotiv became another team from the top-5 that were unable to bring back home three points from Ufa.
