Battle in Saint Petersburg
Lokomotiv drew one all with Zenit in Gameweek 29 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Football Championship.
Lokomotiv faced a defensive selection crisis right before the away match in Saint Petersburg. So it was decided to pair Shishkin with Mykhalyk at center-back and assign Yanbaev to the right wing position.
The score was opened as early as ten minutes underway. Inside the box Mykhalyk fell down while challenging Dzyuba for the ball, Artem tripped over, and the ref gave a penalty for that. Guilherme guessed the direction of Hulk’s shot yet could not save it.
Lokomotiv did not droop and continued on the offensive against Zenit. Henty had a decent chance. Denisov tried his luck with his long-range attempt. But the equalizer came off a penalty, which was earned by Zhemaletdinov. Samedov took the kick and sent the goalie the wrong way.
In the second half the Railwaymen focused on counter-attacking. Zenit tried to break through the Red-Greens' defence with series of short passes and did carve out an opportunity once. But Guilherme denied Shatov from close range.
The game itself was full of rough play on both sides, so the referee did not spare the cards. The injury time descended into a brawl postponing the final whistle to 99 minutes. All in all, 13 yellow cards were showed, Miranchuk was dismissed - the draw was tough.
