Lost In Derby
Lokomotiv have lost to CSKA in Gameweek 25 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Championship.
The derby found both teams on a winning streak. CSKA had seen no losses in 12 games, Lokomotiv had won points in six latest fixtures. Besides, Lokomotiv had been lucky travelers, harvesting points in four previous away games, and hadn't lost to CSKA in the previous three face-offs.
However, as the referee blew for half-time it was clear this nice stats was over. Lokomotiv's defence was failing. On 11 minutes Dzagoev found himself in the open space in front of the goal, had time to work the ball, fool Pejcinovic and net.
Lokomotiv created several chances before the break through Fernandes who took two very promising shots from free kicks but Akinfeyev saved them all. Later, when he failed, his teammates stood by to secure an empty goal and deny Maicon a chance.
Meanwhile, CSKA didn't afford to waste their chances and punished Lokomotiv for every mistake. Every loss of the ball in midfield or slow reaction in defence converted to goals. Five minutes to the break Vitinho had no problems blasting at the goal from the edge of the penalty area. Soon after that Golovin easily foxed Tarasov and Denisov, rounded Kverkvelia and made the score big.
Six minutes after the restart CSKA netted the fourth goal. Fernandes played one-two with Natcho near the area, Bibras found space and hammered it into the far corner. After that CSKA pulled back and became busy defending their goal while Lokomotiv tried to break up the defence. Fernandes continued to try his luck with the free kicks, Miranchuk wanted to make the score not that big but it remained intact.
