Lost to Ufa

Lokomotiv suffered defeat against Ufa during the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Championship’s Gameweek 7.

On the matchday, the Railwaymen arrived to the stadium by the Moscow Central Circle, the brand new railway. The team set out from Botanichesky Sad and headed for the Lokomotiv station. The hub is just minutes' walk to our stadium. Yuriy Syomin examined the route and suggested: “With the roads congested, on the way from Bakovka one can transfer to MCC. This will take us less time than going via the city centre. I am sure MCC may now positively influence attendance figures, too. Fans from the outskirts of Moscow can easily reach the stadium. It takes minutes to walk from the Lokomotiv station to the football ground.”

Middle of the first half, the game witnessed a spell of feisty action with an array of chances on both ends. Ufa had a go at goal from long range but off target. Then Fatai came free one-on-one with Guilherme, but the latter’s reaction was quicker. Lokomotiv responded with four headers by Skuletic and Samedov’s through pass, regrettably wasted by Maicon.

At half-time Syomin decided to refresh the attack. Portnyagin took to the pitch replacing Skuletic and inside ten minutes earned a penalty. Pejcinovic stepped forward to take the kick but failed to beat Lunyov. Unlike Lokomotiv who blew a sure chance to open the score, Ufa were lucky to take the lead without having a go at the goal whatsoever – courtesy of Corluka. Igboun played the ball across the face of the goal, and Guilherme’s clearance bounced off the defender into our own net.

As the closing half wore out, Lokomotiv finally regained their senses and stormed forward towards goal - Lunyov was in the groove. The rest of his team put in a great defensive shift, too. Ufa secured a victory.
