Loko Juniors Defeat Spartak

Lokomotiv youth team have beaten Spartak on Gameweek 12.

Lokomotiv would meet Spartak in high spirits. There was the smashing 7:0 victory over Amkar in the previous round. During the break that followed some of the players represented their country while others had time to rest and recreate. Another cause to celebrate was the Miranchuk twins’ birthday. Anton made an appearance.

Ivan Galanin and Georgiy Makhatadze were missing from Lokomotiv’s lineup this time. The guys joined the national team that was to start off in FIFA U-17 World Cup 2015 on October 20 in Chile. However, even without them the Railwaymen’s selection seemed well-balanced.

Mere two minutes into the game, Lokomotiv opened the score. Galadzhan availed himself of the mistake made by Spartak’s back line, beat the keeper and hit the post. The deflected ball bounced off a defender right into Smirnov’s path.

In the first half of the period the Railwaymen positively looked better, but closer to the interval Spartak gained the initiative. A few times Kochenkov saved the goal after their long-range shots.

In the second half Spartak built up pressure. The red-whites dominated the pitch yet lacked penetration in the penalty area. Lokomotiv put up excellent defence. When Spartak did manage an attempt, Kochenkov got the ball no problem. Even Kipiani’s ejection in the middle of the second half did not change anything much.

Lokomotiv settled the game without much fuss registering a victory and moving up to the fourth place in the table.
