Lokomotiv Finished Season

Lokomotiv have lost to Zenit in Gameweek 30 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Championship.

The game at Cherkizovo was vital to the visitors. Zenit were in a race against CSKA for the second spot in the table that would have allowed them to qualify for the Champions League. To finish second, Zenit had to beat Lokomotiv and count on the Army Men's failure.
Nevertheless, the debut of the game was pretty quiet. The terraces witnessed only one danger in 30 minutes when Ari threatened Lodygin's goal but the keeper came out the winner.

However, as soon as Zenit created a chance, they converted it. Netu crossed from a flank for Kokorin who finished it off. Meanwhile, Dzyuba was offside and active in that episode, and the linesman raised his flag, but the referee called it legal anyway. After that the tension on the field became feasible and five players got booked in just four minutes, most of them for arguing with the referee.

While the ref was booking player after player, elsewhere CSKA were killing Anji and denying Zenit a ticket to the Champions League thus making the second half a pure formality for Loko's opponents.
It looked like Zenit knew about the developments in the parallel game. Lokomotiv had the initiative after the break and kept on attacking throughout the 45 minutes, However, the visitors were defending well, they checked Ari and left no space to Miranchuk.

On 61 minutes they created a good chance through Kokorin who bent it into the corner but Guilherme saved. But 7 minutes to the end of the game he was helpless when Danni worked the ball in the box and chipped it over our keeper.

Lokomotiv have finished the season. Very soon, football will be back at Cherkizovo!
