Lokomotiv Beat Ufa

Lokomotiv have defeated Ufa in Gameweek 21 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Championship.

A group of team leaders were sidelined for the game against Ufa. Ari had aggregated a fourth yellow card in the derby with Spartak, Vitaliy Denisov and Vedran Corluka both had injuries. Yuriy Syomin had to reshuffle the lineup. As a result, the starting list had no actual striker on it, but could finally boast Jefferson Farfan. And it was the Peruvian international who was the best in the first half that was scarce in opportunities.

Farfan could have opened the score half-an-hour into the game. Fernandes picked out Jeff's head int he box but the latter failed to net. However, the second attempt proved effective - seven minutes later Farfan received a pass from Miranchuk on the edge of the box and took a soft but very precise shot at the corner.

The second half brought less result but more action. Defender Solomon Kverkvelia played reliably and seemed to win every tackle, plus the attacking trio Fernandes-Miranchuk-Farfan practiced spectacular combinations at the Ufa goal.

Lokomotiv had control over the game and could have doubled the lead when Ufa sent all men forward. Miranchuk had a clear chance but lacked precision. Anyway, the Railwaymen have secured an important victory and are going to face Ufa again in the Russian Cup Semifinal.
