Compared to the Cup fixture with Sibir, Igor Cherevchenko made two alterations to the lineup: Dame Ndoye spearheaded attacks again, while Aleksandr Samedov started on the right wing.
Right after the starting whistle blew, Lokomotiv rushed for an opener. Samedov soon set up for Maicon with a good cross but the Brazilian wasted his chance.
A couple of minutes later Marques shook off the marker in a perfect manner and passed to space for Denisov who picked the ball at high speed and crossed to the box. Shishkin was there for a finishing touch but the attempt was blocked.
Lokomotiv continued pressing the opponents and had two more fat chances before the break. Samedov and Boussoufa played the ball at the arc, then saw Ndoye up front and passed to him - the Senegalese took a shot but hit the net from the outside. In the next episode, Corluka tried to score a header but the keeper Gerus grabbed it.
Amkar also had a chance for a late opener when Takazov rifled from a long-range free-kick. Abayev parried it and good for him Aleksandr Sheshukov stood by to clear.
Soon after the restart, the teams attempted to score. At Lokomotiv, Maicon passed to Samedov who failed to net. Soon Amkar's Kireyev went for glory but missed just a fraction.
Then, finally, Lokomotiv scored twice. Boussoufa crossed from a corner for Corluka who scored a cracker. A minute later freshman Niasse received the ball at the arc, carried it to the box and fired a spectacular left-footer past the keeper.
Soon, however, Amkar responded with an effective attack. Jovicic tried his luck from a distance, the ball bounced off the ground in front of Abayev who failed to calculate its trajectory and saw it in the back of the net.
It took Lokomotiv three minutes to restore a status quo. Samedov crossed to the box for Corluka who headed it in.
The Railwaymen could have scored even more but eventually decided a two-goal difference is enough for a win and secured the score.
