Alexander Samedov - Player of the Season

Online voting for season 2015/2016 Best Player which was held at the Lokomotiv official website and VK group is now over.

The prize goes to Alexander Samedov who claimed 2347 votes or 36,3 % of total vote cast.

Samedov played in all of the season’s matches but four and has been recognized our best striker and assistant. Alexander shone in the Europa League’s group stage scoring four times in six matches. He got a goal to his name in the second-leg match with Fenerbahce at the knock-out stage. He was also named spring’s best player, and has been called up to Russia squad ahead of Euro-2016.

Baye Oumar Niasse won the next-best player taking 1187 votes or 18,3% of vote. Niasse was the team’s player of the month in the first half of the season. Three times our fans voted in favour of the Senegal international: in September, October and November. Niasse scored four goals in six matches at the Europa League’s group stage and eight goals in 15 League’s games.

Goalkeeper Marinato Guilherme came third supported by 841 voters or 13%. Guilherme skipped only two of Lokomotiv’s games, being replaced by Ilya Abaev at the Russian Cup. Twice Marinato was voted POM: in February and April. Guilherme’s performances secured him a spot on the Russia Euro-2016 team.

In the fourth place is Vitaliy Denisov who took 579 votes or 8.9% of total vote cast. Fifth-placed Aleksey Miranchuk pocketed 527 votes or 8,1%. Croatian defender Vedran Corluka came sixth with 386 votes or 5,9%. The seventh place went to Rifat Zhemaletdinov supported by 317 voters or 4,9%. Alan Kasaev finished eighth with 159 votes or 2,4%. Nemanja Pejcinovic is ninth with 63 votes or 0,9%. And right after in the tenth place is Roman Shishkin with 59 votes or the same 0,9%.

The total number of votes cast stands at 6465.
