Lokomotiv have beaten Ural in Gameweek 8 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Championship and are standing second on the table as the international break advances.
Both teams were in great mood before the game. Lokomotiv had beaten Spartak the week before, and signed a long-awaited striker and learned their Europa League opponents this week. In their turn, Ural hadn't lost once this season, although had been able to secure just one victory.
The last few games between the two teams have been spectacular. In the first leg of the previous season Lokomotiv conceded a goal in the last minutes, the Russian Cup final ended up in a brawl, and in the second leg game the Railwaymen were left 10 vs 11. Besides, there had been no goalless draws in the history of the rivalry between Lokomotiv and Ural.
This game became no exception, although the first half saw no scoring chances. But as soon as Ural bothered Guilherme, Lokomotiv responded with an effective attack. Marinato saved Balazic's attempt off a corner, Anton Miranchuk won an aerial battle against Hodzyur, and Farfan kicked it home at a far post.
Ural made the score level in 11 minutes. Bicfalvi took a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area, Guilherme parried it. Dimitrov picked it up and shot along the goal line but it hit Marinato's foot and rolled home. Own goal.
In halftime the Lokomotiv beach football team got to the pitch. Just recently they won the champions' title. Our clubmates went round the pitch to hear the praise from the stands, then their goalkeeper played one-on-ones with some supporters.
The second half started off with two attempts by Denisov. In these episodes Igor picked up the ball and had a go first touch. And while the first try was a failure, Hodzyur had to work really hard to save the second one.
Lokomotiv took the lead again on 57 minutes. The Miranchuk brothers had told before the game they were improving mutual understanding day by day, and that goals would come soon. They delivered on the promise. Barinov played a through ball to Anton in the area, the latter backheeled to Alexey who rounded the keeper to score a winner.
Ural have suffered their first defeat this season at the hands of Lokomotiv who advance the international break standing second on the table. Two weeks on, our boys are traveling to Groznyy, and starting their European campaign days later.
