Draw With Anji
Lokomotiv have drawn against Anji in Gameweek 27 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Championship.
Lokomotiv went to the seaside second for the second time in just one week. On May 2nd the Railroaders won the Russian Cup on the shore of the Black Sea, now they came to face Anji who are based by the Caspian Sea. The game started with the moment of silence to commemorate those who fell in the Great Patriotic War. This Tuesday the country will celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the Victory.
"We'll probably need to use some rotation in the remaining games of the season", - said Yuriy Syomin during one of the trainings. However, the top eleven placed by the manager have been regular starters throughout the season.
There had been doubts Lokomotiv would lack motivation after the Cup victory but it was just the contrary. Lokomotiv were enjoying the game and created more than a dozen chances in the first half. The midfielders were searching for Ari with their long passes but Fibel guarded him well.
The first chance came through Tarasov who headed the ball goalwards after a pass by Ari but missed the target. The Railwaymen were building on pressure but lacked finishing.
Farfan was doing great! Jefferson won almost every tackle, fought for the ball on every square inch of the field and could have scored in the middle of the first half but Yurchenko saved his team after a close-range attempt. In half-time, Farfan was subbed off and replaced by Maicon.
Lokomotiv dominated throughout the first half, the hosts had their first real opportunity close to the break: Yakovlev sent the ball to the box but Miranchuk cleared the danger.
In the second half it was Anji who had the initiative. Every point counts for the Dagestan side who are struggling to avoid relegation. Their most promising opportunity came in the 56th minute through Ezatolahi. The Iranian midfielder found an opportunity to shoot at the goal but Guilherme saved the team.
After that both teams started playing carefully with lots of tackles in midfield. New opportunities came late in the game but neither side managed to score.
The game resulted in a draw, Lokomotiv's 13th one this season. On May 13th we're looking forward to seeing you all at the terraces to support us against Orenburg. Come, turn up! It will be cool!
