Lokomotiv defeated Ufa
Lokomotiv have defeated Ufa in the Russian Championship fixture on Gameweek 6 and come home victorious for the fourth time running.
The coaching team made some changes to the previous line-up, starting Kolomeytsev and Pejcinovic. Kolomeytsev was a tactical swop. He played in the hole, as he used to do in Amkar. Pejcinovic was returning after the injury.
On the eve of the game, the team remembered their last year encounter with Ufa, the game played in thick fog. The visibility on the arena was down to some 20-30 meters. Those who sat on the bench could not even make out how the only goal was scored. Luckily this time around, mists and fogs, and the city petroleum network along with the local fowl farm did not mess up the big football event in any way. The Loko fans greeted their manager Igor Cherevchenko with a big banner reading: “Happy birthday, coach!” The other day Cherevchenko became 41.
Lokomotiv emerged wearing the green kit, the one our fans liked to so much. It was a kind of debut that proved lucky. Five minutes after the kick-off, Niasse put the Railroaders one up, capitalizing on poor coordination between Ufa defense and the goalkeeper. But being down 0-1 made no impact on the hosts. The team did not rush forward head over heels and kept closing in on Loko’s goal. One of such outings culminated in a powerful volley shot from Igboun but Guilherme fisted it away.
When the first 45 minutes were almost out, Lokomotiv scored once more, in an offhand manner. Kolomeytsev passed the ball to Kasaev sprinting down the wing. The latter took a cut and nonchalantly fired it into the far corner – 2:0
After the half-time Ufa made two substitutions, hoping to alter the run of play. And they did look good in the first minutes, but would muck up their own chances. Igboun got the second yellow card and essentially made way for the victors.
Five minutes before the final whistle, Pejcinovic finished off Kasaev’s delivery from a corner setting the final scoreline at 3:0.
Lokomotiv registered an away win, forth in a row, and move to the second place in the table.
