Lokomotiv arrived to the Austrian city of Walchsee on Thursday, June 26. After five days of intensive practices the Railwaymen had their first scheduled friendly of the summer. Our team opposed one of the oldest German clubs München 1860, who are now playing in the second Bundesliga.
Leonid Kuchuk used the opportunity to test all of his men. As a result only young Miroslav Lobantsev, Ilya Lantratov, Sergey Makarov and Arshak Koryan spent the game in the dugout.
The Germans had the initiative in the first half while Lokomotiv were obviously slower due to heavy workouts during practices. However the very new pair of central defenders Pejcinovic-Belyayev played well, and failed only once in the end of the half when the Munchers scored a cracker. The Lions' young midfielder Weigl received the ball in front of the box and took a shot right at the corner.
In the half-time Kuchuk changed the entire squad leaving only the energetic Yanbayev. But even he was substituted 20 minutes later.
The fresh players helped regain the initiative but failed to capitalize on it - and were punished. A German player carried the ball down the wing and crossed to the box where Hein made no mistake.
Pretty soon Lokomotiv made the gap minimal again when the team's best scorer of the previous season Dame N'Doye broke one-on-one and netted it.
The Railwaymen kept searching for ways to level and had some good opportunities but failed to score. The German team won.
On July 7 Lokomotiv are playing their last friendly at the training camp against Victoria Plzen from the Czech Republic.
