Juniors Take Second Spot
Lokomotiv youth team won against Krylia Sovetov during Gameweek 23 of the Russian football championship.
In Gameweek 23 of the Russian Youth football championship Lokomotiv hit the road to Samara. In the first leg the Railwaymen annihilated the local squad 5:0, so the home side must have been up to a revenge.
The first half was played at a high pace - and it was a rugged affair. Chances were few yet it was possible to open the score. Galanin was close to nailing the upper ninety, but Yermakov saved it. A cross from the wing found Chikanchi, but the player shattered the woodwork.
The second half witnessed more quality from Lokomotiv in the final third – and that fact actually proved crucial. In the very first attack Galadzhan latched onto a lobbed pass made by Lysov and was quick enough to score off the rebound. Ten minutes on, our long-range specialist Makhatadze went for glory from 40 meters and caught Samara keeper off guard.
This fourth straight win lifts Lokomotiv to the second place of the tournament table. Sitting four points behind the leading CSKA, the Railwaymen will face the Army Men in Perovo next week.
