Baye Oumar Niasse Joins Lokomotiv!
FC Lokomotiv have clinched a deal with Turkish Akhisar Belediyespor on a transfer of Baye Oumar Niasse. The 24-year-old striker from Senegal has signed a long-term contract with the Railwaymen and will wear #21 shirt.
Lokomotiv Sporting Director Kirill Kotov has commented on the signing:
- We brought Baye Oumar Niasse to boost and diversify Lokomotiv's attacking options. He's a young utility player who can competently play a winger or a centre forward. His versatility and physics will be extremely useful for us in the three tournaments we're going to participate in this season. We are sure Niasse will further develop at Lokomotiv and help us reach new heights.
No surprise he soon moved to Europe: in 2013 FC Brann from Norway borrowed him from his parent club. Although Niasse's first European trip was unimpressive, and he returned to Uakam where it took him no time to prove his high level once again. He scored 13 times in just half a season and earned a second try in Europe.
Before Season 2013/14 FC Saint Etienne from France demonstrated interest towards Baye but at the end of the day he found himself in Turkish club Akhisar Belediyespor. He quickly became the coach's regular pick and scored and assisted during his very first appearance, later producing 15 goals and 7 assists in total that season.
In May 2014 Baye debuted at his national team and scored twice against Kosovo.
