«The guys showed that we were not mistaken in them»

Lokomotiv U19 head coach Maksim Mishatkin reflects on the victory over Zenit (2:0) in the Gameweek 1 of the Russian Youth league.

- The first match gives a start to everything we did - it is always difficult. We are happy with the guys - they played a good game. We were not satisfied with finishing of the chances, but we this could be due to the fact that it was the first match. Nevertheless, we must make use of the moments that we create.

- Today several players made their debut for the youth team. How satisfied are you with the work they have put in?

- We are constantly changing, updating - these are the conditions in which a normal youth team works. All the guys deserve to be here. What they showed on the field today shows that we were not mistaken in them!

- The next game against Ural is already on September 16th.

- Young players recover quickly, so we'll just adjust the weekly training cycle a bit. There will be no problem with this.

- Have you already seen the episode in which the ball seemed to have crossed the goal line?

- I haven't seen the video of the episode yet, but even from the bench it seemed that it was a goal after all - the opponent's goalkeeper was getting the ball out from the inside of the goal. Purely visually, even from the bench, it seemed to us that the ball was already in.
