Corluka Gets Hurt, Rifat And Eder Score. Lokomotiv Beats Valerenga
At this last training camp Lokomotiv were taking on Valerenga. The Norwegian side started their preparation cycle just a month ago, their season restarts only in early April. Meanwhile, Lokomotiv is traveling to St Petersburg next week which means that the teams’ physical form was different.
Our lineup for the game was pretty usual. The Miranchuks were absent: the brothers are still practicing according to their own schedules - during the first half, they first spinned exercise bikes and then ran around in circles.
Lokomotiv scored in the first offensive. Barinov found himself in the position of the right midfielder, accelerated up the flank and crossed to the box where Eder squeezed through the defender and the keeper.
After the conceded goal Valerenga took possession of the ball but Lokomotiv defended tightly and didn’t allow the opposition to approach its goal. Nevertheless, the Norwegians managed to create two good chances. On 13 minutes Finne unexpectedly took a shot from behind a defender at the near corner but Guilherme tipped the ball away from the upper ninety. Soon Finne again charged towards the goal from about 10 meters but shook the crossbar.
Until the end of the first half neither team bothered the opposition keeper - probably this played a trick on Valerenga’s keeper. On 42 minutes Klaesson failed to save a powerful blast from Zhemaletdinov, allowing the ball slip under the hand.
The second half was less pithy. Its brightest episode was the injury of Vedran Corluka. The captain got hurt in a collision with a Norwegian side’s player and had to leave the pitch on 58 minutes.
Lokomotiv and Valerenga each created just one opportunity in 45 minutes. Lekven had a chance to finish off a cross from a flank but missed the target. At Lokomotiv, Rybchinskiy looked solid. Dima speeded up the flank, cut the angle and took a shot at the near corner - the keeper blocked it away, Krychowiak was there for the follow-up but sent it off the target.
