Lokomotiv registered only 17 players for the game against Rostov: Eder, Miranchuk, Corluka and Zhemaletdinov had followed their individual schedules on the previous day and now watched the game from the stands. At the next camp everyone will be back.
The Railroaders’ starting lineup was very unusual - three central defenders, Magkeyev in defensive midfield, Tugarev and Joao Mario in attack. On the other hand, Guilherme made the first appearance after the recovery.
In the opening ten minutes Lokomotiv didn’t have a single chance to approach Rostov’s goal. The southerners controlled the ball and kept crossing into the box where Kverkvelia confidently cleared it away. Our first approach to Rostov’s goal could have ended in a goal. Krychowiak tried to net it off a cross to the far post but Rudakov managed to save a deadly attempt. Rostov responded with a crossbar when another cross to the box found Eremenko’s head but the midfielder shook the woodwork.
Lokomotiv used its second opportunity in the game. Murilo fought for the ball in the penalty area following a pass from Joao Mario, and pushed the ball into the net.
After the goal Rostov regained possession and kept the Railroaders away from their goal, equalizing late into the first half. Bayramyan attempted to score off a cross but hit the post, Osipenko picked up and was effective on the follow-up.
In half-time Lokomotiv made three substitutions that affected the result in the end of the day: Kulikov, Medvedev and Rybchinskiy. But the game restarted with a goal: Shomurodov played a through-pass to Mamaev at the far post who sent it home with first touch.
Lokomotiv equalized after 11 minutes. Rybchinskiy carried the ball along the edge of the box and passed to Kulikov. However, Daniil didn’t strike but made a smart pass to Krychowiak who made no mistake in a one-on-one.
Rostov, too, waited for 11 minutes to regain the lead. Medvedev made a mistake having stepped too far out of the goal and dropped the ball right in front of Eremenko. However, we equalized again following a great solo advancement by Rybchinskiy. Dima picked up speed at the flank, cut the corner, rounded a defender and sent it home
For the third time at the tournament Lokomotiv took it to the penalty shootout, and again Medvedev was good. Nikita saved two attempts while Rybchinskiy scored the decisive goal - 5:4. Lokomotiv has finished the second training camp.
