Lokomotiv Lost To Baltika In Shootout
Lokomotiv had to take on Baltika in what came to be an extremely hard time in September. Prior to hitting the road to Kaliningrad the Railroaders had traveled to Sochi, Leverkusen, and Orenburg – in just 12 days. On Saturday we’re entertaining Zenit, on Tuesday - Atletico Madrid. This schedule explains the choice of a lineup for the Cup game. All of our leaders remained in Moscow while the youngsters who lack playing time had a chance to show their skills.
Lokomotiv scored an opener in the middle of the first half through Eder who notched his second goal in two games. The Portuguese picked up the ball after a cross from a corner kick, and rolled it home.
Baltika pushed for an equalizer and had a chance late into the first half when Allef crossed to Kazaev whose attempt shook the crossbar.
In the end of the second half Baltika managed to lock Lokomotiv on their third and finally capitalized on one of our mistakes. Alshin moved to the centre from the flank and found Kazaev in the area who took an accurate shot at the far corner.
The game was won in the penalty shoot-out where Baltika were luckier – 4:1 - and advanced to the next stage.
