Battled Out Draw
Lokomotiv and Ural junior teams drew against each in the match of the Russian League’s Gameweek 15.
Lokomotiv youth team approached the fixture with Ural on the back of five unbeaten games. The visiting team’s run stretched over seven weeks, but they last registered an away win as far as August.
As usual, Lokomotiv youngsters imposed themselves from the kick-off enjoying possession. Ural were forced back. However, our crafty playmaking near the box stopped there – no actual scoring attempts came from it. The away side turned out more productive. Two free kicks handed to Ural proved enough for an opening goal. The first one drew a brilliant save from Kovalev. The second set piece ended right in our top corner, courtesy of Zhukov who equally brilliantly bent the ball around the wall.
As the second half started, Lokomotiv stepped up the pressure and got through. A burst down the wing was neatly finished off by Tugarev who tucked the ball inside the near post. In a few more minutes Galanin slotted home, too, capitalizing on a double rebound off one post and then the other.
Alas, Lokomotiv were not lucky enough to bag a win this time. A long-range shot by Konate tied the score, which prevailed until the final whistle.
