Victory Slipped Away

Lokomotiv youth squad drew the match with FC Tom in Gameweek 2 of the Russian Premier League.

The current title holders kicked off their home season against the League’s neophytes Tom. In the first outing, up in the rainy Saint Petersburg, Lokomotiv juniors had suffered a defeat from Zenit. This time the game played out in sweltering 30 plus temperatures.

Despite the weather, the Railroaders came all out from the very start and virtually blasted Tom's left flank. Tom was able to hold the offensives for some time but broke down midway of the first half. The attack which led to the opener was launched by Galanin. He played the ball to Galadzhan who passed it back from the goal-line for Lysov inside. Mikhail made no mistake. The second goal was scored in a similar move. Now it was Galadzhan who rolled the ball to the feet of Dorofeyev, the latter simply firing past the goalkeeper from the rim of the box.

The first-half performance from Lokomotiv was absolutely superb, but after the break the team from Tom started calling the shots. On 57 minutes Sasin pulled one back, being quickest in a penalty box melee. Soon after him Sobolev almost scored a solo goal. In a few more minutes Lobantsev was forced to save a tricky low ball from the corner.

In the closing minutes Tom succeeded in their efforts. There was a long ball played forward by Makurin, and the ball dinked under Lobantsev’s gloved hands into the net – 2:2.
