Lokomotiv Lost in Rostov
Lokomotiv lost the match in Rostov during Gameweek 27 of the ROSGOSSTRAKH Russian Football Championship.
Going by statistics, Rostov FC looked like one of the easiest contenders for Lokomotiv. Out of 43 encounters, the local side had won only three. Yet, each of those losses was ‘particular’ in its own way for us. To the first one Lokomotiv stumbled on the very Railway Workers Day. The third is our first home loss in the current campaign. And everyone will remember the defeat sustained on the 11th of May 2014. There were more interesting figures in connection with Friday fixture. For example, it was to be Vitaliy Denisov’s 100th appearance for Lokomotiv, and the 150th for Jan Durica.
The match got off to an unhappy start. On 8 minutes, Kudryashov broke down the wing and squared the ball inside to Azmoun who did not waste the chance. For the rest of the half, Lokomotiv dominated the pitch, tried to penetrate the defensive ranks and loaded the box with high balls but conceded the second goal. One of Rostov’s forays ended with Noboa scoring off a deflection.
Lokomotiv began the second half just perfectly. On 52 minute Skuletic finished off a corner by Samedov. And there was enough time for the Railwaymen to score another goal. There was a free kick taken by Samedov. Kolomeytsev tried to tuck the ball inside the near corner but had no luck.
Rostov stifled the game like pros, moving up to the Russian League’s top spot.
