‘Combative mood for the new season!’
On Friday, July 10, Lokomotiv’s youth team played against FC Kolomna from the Moscow Oblast.
The pre-season preparation is at the late stage but we already can evaluate its result and see how well-prepared the guys are for the new season.
The fighting for the ball started with the first minutes. Half-an-hour before the kick-off the field in Cherkizovo was watered by a pouring rain - now spatters of water were flying from under the players’ boots, the amount of falls and slips could not be counted. That affected the tempo but not spectacularity. Neither of the teams could hold possession of the ball for long.
By the end of the first half, Kolomna created some good chances but couldn’t convert them. Here’s when the famous football wisdom worked: if you don’t score, you concede. In just two minutes, Galadzhan scored a brace, assisted by Makhatadze and Kipiani. This interrupted the Railwaymen’s goalless run during the training camp.
Despite the conceded goals, Kolomna didn’t seem discouraged and continued to attack. In the second half the pitch dried up a bit and suddenly attracted a whole flock of pigeons who didn’t seem to care about the ball flying around. The feathered friends surrounded Loko’s box.
The birds didn’t scare the visitors as they pulled one back. They could even get back into the game but our keeper Ivashov stopped the penalty. As a result, Anisimov set the scoreline at 3:1 after a sniper shot at Kolomna’s goal.
Lokomotiv demonstrated great play that couldn’t be spoilt neither by the weather nor by Kolomna’s combative mood. The summer training camp is now finished. Next time we’ll see the youth team playing in Saransk against the local FC Mordovia.
Lokomotiv’s youth team head coach Denis Klyuev made a short summary of the game and the training camp:
‘It’s good that we could win. It was important to do so in the last game of the training camp. We had to do it to secure good mood in Saransk where the new season starts. We started to capitalize on our chances and to score. The weather conditions were hard but despite this the boys stuck to their play. I am happy with the training camp, we worked effectively on tactics and fitness. Our mood for the new season is combative!’
