Youth Team Lost To Dynamo
By Gameweek 21 all of Lokomotiv Youth internationals had returned to the team. However, the mix-up in the links and mere fatigue did not allow to demonstrate a well organized play against the leader.
On the contrary, Dynamo are in perfect form and are bidding to claim the title. They immediately had the initiative, setting up positional attacks and trying to break one-on-one in rapid counter-attacks. They showed a special interest for our left flank guarded by fullback Denis Nikitin.
On 21 minutes a Dynamo player made a cross that proved to be an assist when Morgunov touched the ball sending it into the back of the net. The score was set at 1:0. After that Lokomotiv stopped counting only on counter-attacks and managed to balance the game abck.
The guys started acting decisively and aggressively. On 34 minutes, in a manoeuvre a-la Corluka, Alexander Logunov moved to the right and served the ball to Artyom Galadzhan. His marker failed to anticipate the pass and lost our forward, the goalkeeper Leshchuk made a positioning mistake, and Artyom used these to his advantage sending the ball home with a gentle inside-foot kick.
But Dynamo managed to take the lead again before the break. Kuzmin passed to space where Maksimenko picked it up and blasted at the goal. Lobantsev parried the first attempt but the opponent hit the bounce and guided it home - 2:1. Soon Anton Miranchuk served a great ball from a set piece but Dmitriy Barinov failed to finish.
In half-time, Lokomotiv’s head coach Denis Klyuev made two substitutions. Lantratov changed Lobantsev between the posts, and Chukanov climbed off the bench to replace Miranchuk. Both players were made use of immediately: Andrea started making good passes and attempted to score himself, while Ilya saved several spectacular balls.
In the 50th minute Kipiani had two deadliest chances to level but Leshchuk was all over the box. Nikolay started dribbling the ball trying to outfox the opponents. At Dynamo, Maksimenko had a good scoring opportunity, be it not for Lobantsev who cleared the danger. Kuzmin wanted to hoover up the rebound but only sent it outfield.
The game became spectacular and thrilling but then came a red card. Our captain Dima Barinov had another booking for interrupting an attack, and was sent off. One could think Dynamo would rush to finish us off, but it looked like the White-Blues were not ready for this. On the contrary, Lokomotiv attacked aggressively, everybody stood up to be counted.
In the 67th minute Logunov started another attack with a through pass that cut off the entire set of midfielders. Chukanov worked the ball and wired a shot that came straight into the goalie, and his teammates didn’t allow Lokomotiv to score a rebound.
In the end of the game Lokomotiv, who were one man down, even stormed Dynamo’s goal. On 85 minutes Logunov wanted to finish a service from a corner kick but Leshchuk saved. Two minutes later Kipiani was ready to level but the keeper was there again!
Head over heels on the opponents’ third, Lokomotiv missed an effective counter-attack and allowed Katashevskiy to set the final scoreline at 3:1. The Railwaymen lost again but proved that their best lineup has an immense potential.
