First Victory Of The Year

Miodrag Bozovic decided to field almost a perfect squad against the Armenian leaders Ulisses. Young keeper Miroslav Lobantsev allowed Ilya Abayev relax on the bench, Vedran Corluka and Jan Durica were playing as central backs, with fullbacks Shishkin and Pejcinovic for a company. Stopper Taras Mykhalyk was tasked with breaking the opponents’ attacks while Mbark Boussoufa and Manuel Fernandes were playing higher. Wingers Alexander Samedov and Alan Kasaev took their usual positions. Oumar Niasse was playing a lone striker.

The teams started actively, and on 9 minutes Lokomotiv scored an opener: Mykhalyk passes to the area from where Boussoufa sent it home – 1:0.

Gradually, Lokomotiv controlled the play and started testing new combinations. Boussoufa was especially active, and Shishkin and Samedov buoyed tension on the right wing.

On 30 minutes Ulisses had a real chance to score when Khurtsidze blasted at a full volley. Only due to Lobantsev’s great reflexed did Lokomotiv avoid a leveler.

Minutes later, the Railwaymen responded. Mykhalyk broke into the area, covered the ball and passed to Niasse. The Senegalese took a shot and was ready to celebrate but Morozov cleared from the very line. Samedov picked it up and passed but a defender handplayed the ball and the referee pointed at the spot. Boussoufa took the kick and doubled the lead – 2:0. The first half ended.

In the half-time, Bozovic refreshed the squad with Yan Tigorev, Alexander Sheshukov, the Miranchuk brothers, and Roman Pavlyuchenko. This helped build up pressure on Ulisses’ goal in the second half. On 56 minutes Alexey Miranchuk picked up the ball in the centre, left the defenders on the shelf, worked the ball for the other foot and had a go but the keeper saved. Several minutes later, however, Alexey was celebrating: his brother Anton produced a fantastic diagonal, Alexey controlled the ball and sent it into the back of the net – 3:0.

The Miranchuks played perfectly. Most of their passes came right to feet, and that helped boost pressure.

On 64 minutes the long-awaited Dmitriy Tarasov substituted Corluka. Sheshukov went to play a central back.
Just 15 minutes on, Tarasov assisted! Dmitriy’s sliding tackle strip an opponend off the ball that was picked up by Pavlyuchenko who carried it to the box and scored a winner – 4:0.

The Railwaymen are finishing this training camp with a victory and in good mood. The team are having another training tomorrow morning and then flying to Moscow in the evening.
