Dame N'Doye: "I'm here to score goals"

The Senegalese forward Dame N'Doye became Loko's best striker not only in the first part of Season 2012/13, but also on the training camps in Cyprus and Spain. He scored four goals in almost seven full games he played. Now that the team're back in town, Dame answers our questions.

- It's March already, but it's still winter outside. Are you okay with it?
- Yeah, winter in Russia is long and cold. But I'm used to it. It more or less the same in Denmark. Especially in early March.

- You became the best striker in the friendlies. Do these goals mean something to you?
- Sure. Goals you score in friendlies give you confidence. They are the result of your efforts during the trainings, so it is a kind of a challenge anyway. The more you work, the better you play.

- What's your opinion of the work the team did in Cyprus and Spain? Are you ready for the official games of the championship?
- We did a lot, and we are in good conditions for the season. Now only official games will show what we've achieved. Everyone of us trained hard, and we all did what our coaching staff wanted us to do. So now we're looking forward for the first game. No matter what, official games are different from friendlies. And only official games can show how well prepared we are.

- In August, the game agains Dynamo became the second one for you in Lokomotiv, and the first you scored in. What's your expectation from the coming derby now?
- I don't like to discuse opponents. You have to think about your own performance first, and what result you want to achieve. That's when you start to win.

- In the first part of the championship you scored 7 goals in 15 games. Do you have any plan for the second part?
- No plan. I'll just try to capitalize on all my opportunities and enjoy football. I'm here to score goals, it's a common thing for a striker. My primary objective is to be useful for the team. The secondary objective is to score goals.

- Your son is just four years old. He and his mom have just come to Moscow. How difficult was it for you to be separated?
- Of course, it was hard, but I'm a professional, I'm part of the team so I couldn't be on a leave very often to see my family. We had important  games and Lokomotiv needed me. Anyway, the main thing is that my wife and son are here with me now, and that the lonely days are gone.
