Frosty Draw
Lokomotiv and Orenburg drew 1:1 in the Premier League’s Gameweek 14.
This away fixture against FC Orenburg had a special importance for Yuriy Syomin – Loko head coach was visiting his native town. “My father was born in the Orlyol Oblast, - said Mr Syomin. – When the war broke out, he came to Orenburg. Here my parents met each other and had a family. I was two or three years old when they decided to move permanently to Oryol. Of course, I would come back to Orenburg for short periods. In my school years I spent summer holidays here, staying with my mother’s family.”
Weather conditions in Orenburg were far from favourable for football. Minus 13 Celsius forced the squads to layer up quite a bit.
Lokomotiv selection against Orenburg differed from our regular first XI. Since Shishkin returned to starting line-up, Yanbaev shifted to the right wing. With Samedov and Denisov on bench-warming duties, Miranchuk, Maicon, Fernandes and Kasaev were the attacking four.
And it was Alan who scored the opener. Maicon went on the offensive. Igor Denisov picked up possession and floated the ball towards the far post at Kasaev who fired past Hutar second touch.
In the second half the Red-Greens piled on the pressure, and for a while it seemed we were almost there with the second goal, but then Orenburg scored an equalizer. Nekhaychik’s volley off a cross form the verge of the box found the back of our net. During the time remaining to the final whistle both sides were very pushy, earned three yellow cards between themselves and started a brawl once. However, goal threats were few. The match ended in a draw - 1:1
