Game of Wasted Chances
Lokomotiv youth squad lost to FC Anzhi on Gameweek 13 of the Russian Championship.
Lokomotiv and Anzhi approached their Gameweek 13 fixture sitting next to each other in the eighth and seventh place of the League table, respectively. The Railwaymen had not won a match for a while, and were resolute ahead of this challenge.
In the first half our side produced a near perfect performance. Mere three minutes into the game, Galadzhan beat the keeper in a one-on-one and scored the opener. The quick start was followed by three or four more opportunities. If only finishing had not been plain lame, the team could have made it an easy ride down to the final whistle. Instead, Tugarev smacked the bar, Galanin missed a gaping goal, and Dorofeev fired high from a good shooting position.
In the second half our side continued to fritter away chances unlike the opponents from Makhachkala who capitalized on almost everything they created. First Yusupov drilled a free kick, later Shcherbak slipped through the defence to tuck it past Kovalev and make it 1:2.
