Draw in Samara
Lokomotiv drew the match against Krylia Sovetov on Gameweek 23 of the Russian Premier League.
After resuming their League campaign, Krylia Sovetov had already hosted two home matches held elsewhere, but were now finally opening the season in their home town of Samara with the fixture vs Lokomotiv. Prior to it, Frank Vercauteren’s squad had to rent a stadium in Saransk.
The main game of the night was preceded by a charity match played between the clubs’ fans from Moscow and Samara to support Alexander Averyanov, a veteran of both Krylia and Lokomotiv. Alexander is undergoing an expensive medication and needs urgent surgery at the German Klinik fur Nuklearmedizin CVK Berlin. The fans' support is truly heart-warming.
Lokomotiv made one alteration to their starting eleven as compared to previous encounter. Alan Kasaev was replaced in the line-up by Vladislav Ignatiev. The back lines remained unchanged. After picking up an injury in his appearance against Rubin, Verdan Corluka had recovered and joined the team at the last training sessions.
Krylia came out strongly and in the opening minutes even pinned the Railwaymen at their end. By the middle of the half, Loko got the game back and pushed forward themselves. However, the sides failed to craft chances in those 45 minutes.
The second half looked more interesting yet also remained goalless. Skuletic had an opportunity to make it to the score-sheet but missed in his tussle with a defender, as well as Tarasov who received a lobbed pass from the flank. Krylia answered with a dangerous through ball by Bruno, and with Gabulov’s shot which found only the side of the net.
On April 16th Lokomotiv are set to take on CSKA in Cherkizovo.
