End Of Winning Streak
Lokomotiv U21s have been a source of good news lately: the youth won several games in a row and became a distraction for the fans upset by the main team’s results. Here they saw attacking football and spectacular goals. But all runs end.
Early in the game, Lokomotiv lost a forward. Nikolay Kipiani made a rush forward and suddenly felt pain in the area of the hamstring muscle. The player was immediately substituted.
Usually in wet weather coaches advise their players to try to make use of long balls - goalkeepers become especially vulnerable to them. Unfortunately, attempts were rare. The first half was extremely dull, in the end Lokomotiv conceded twice: Otstavnov first made the score 1:0 with a header, and then sent the ball to the empty net, 2:0.
The visitors continued playing carefully in the second half, and waited for a chance to counter-attack. Akhmetov met no opposition while advancing to Lokomotiv’s goal and took an accurate shot at the back corner setting the final scoreline at 3:0.
It was poor play and a sensitive defeat. Nevertheless, Lokomotiv U21 are in the fight for the third place.
