Lokomotiv football club was established on 23 July 1922. That day a team of the Moscow-Kazan Railway Kazanka played its first match defeating the Izmailovo sports club with a score of 7:0.
During its existing Lokomotiv has won quite a lot trophies. In 1936 Lokomotiv became the first winner of USSR Cup. In 1957 railway boys repeated their success. And two years after Lokomotiv won silver medals of USSR Championship for first time in their history.
A lot of players of our team played for First and Olympic USSR national teams in different years: Valentin Bubukin (winner of Euro-1960), Vladimir Maslachenko, Yuriy Kovalev, German Apuhtin, Igor Zaitsev, Vyacheslav Spiridonov. Several players of the team were awarded as Honoured sport masters: Valentin Granatkin, Viktor Voroshilov, Viktor Lahonin, Vladimir Moshkarin, Viktor Novikov, Mihail Antonevich, Vasiliy Panfilov.
During the Soviet period best coaches of the country worked with Lokomotiv: Boris Arkadiev, Gavriil Kachalin, Konstantin Beskov, Evgeniy Eliseev, Nikolay Morozov.
In a Russian period Lokomotiv moved to a number of the best domestic clubs. Two times (in 2002 and 2004) railway boys won the Russian Championship. Five times (in 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001 and 2007) the team won the Russian Cup. Two times (in 1998 and 1999) Lokomotiv participated in semi-final of UEFA Cup of Winners`s cup.
